i fight with honour.
in an old-fashioned duel,
the knaves with honour will only take on one opponent at a time,
and the enemy will too only engage in a one-on-one battle.
no exploitation of numbers, no use of man-made devices that'll end battles with one big boom,
just good old-fashioned swordplay that pits two people against each other,
talent for talent, skill for skill.
may the best man win.
but as the world evolves, dirty play came into the picture,
and out with honour and pride of e good sort.
in came sneaky ploys to win,
underhanded means to achieve,
and ergo, killing of innocents and such.
it leads me to think of spiritual warfare,
and how as desperately God's people try to engage in honour-bound battles,
the devil has thrown the rule book out of the window & battles as dirty and rowdy as anything can be.
as such, we cannot linger, we have to be on guard all at once,
because the devil attacks no matter the time, no matter the place.
no compassion this enemy has, for it strikes when it knows you're at your weakest, attacking from the back; using any foothold to gain ground.
honour be damned.
but we of God will never resort to cheap means to win the battle,
because we've won it already anyway.
